A Night in Tunisia is a composition of Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Paparelli dating from 1942 , which has become a jazz standard 1 .
Dizzy Gillespie first performed it at Kelly’s Stable in New York in the early 1940s when working with Benny Carter , and later performed by saxophonist Charlie Parker and pianist Bud Powell .
The 1946 recording was inscribed in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2004 2 .
A Night in Tunisia has been taken up in many styles by many bands and musicians, in particular, Charlie Parker , Sarah Vaughan Ella Fitzgerald , Stan Getz , Dexter Gordon , Ibrahim Maalouf , Davis Miles , Bobby McFerrin , Bud Powell , Sonny Rollins , The Double Six , Wayne Shorter , Peter Cincotti , Art Blakey etc.
