The American artist Madonna has recorded her version of the song for the film Evita , in which she plays the role of Eva Perón . The song was included in the film’s soundtrack and released as a single in December 1996, which includes a remix entitled The Miami Mix featuring lyrics in English and Spanglish .
The single ranked No. 1 in France for four weeks in 1997, ten years after La Isla Bonita which was his first and only No. 1 in France in 1987. The video clip is an excerpt of the film directed by Alan Parker .
Madonna performed Do not Cry for Me Argentina at her concerts in Argentina of her Girlie Show in 1993 (before playing in Evita ), Sticky & Sweet Tour in 2008 (the performance was included in the DVD edition of the tour ) and the MDNA Tour in 2012. In 2001, the instrumentalisation served as an interlude during the Drowned World Tour .
