Creation

The song was created on stage by Mary Martin , the performer of Maria on Broadway in 1959.

In the film The Melody of Happiness released in 1965, she is sung by Julie Andrews for the original version, and by Mathé Altéry for the French version, under the title My daily joys .

Adaptations

The piece has become a standard jazz and has been taken many times, including John Coltrane who made one of his “battle horses 1 ” and Al Jarreau .

In 1989, French jazz singer Élisabeth Caumont recorded 2 with personal lyrics, under the title Real book (my favorite song) 3 .

The song is also featured in Lars Von Trier’s film, Dancer in the Dark (2000), and is performed by Björk .

Lea Michele , Glee’s actress and singer , takes her back at a Dove ad in 2010.

In 2010 the Korean singer Youn Sun Nah performs solo accompanied by Kalimba in his album Same Girl .

In 2011, actors and singers Chris Colfer , Darren Criss , Amber Riley and Lea Michele resume this song in the episode Extraordinary Merry Christmas from Season 3 of Glee .

In 2012, the song is also performed in an episode of the Japanese anime Sakamichi no Apollon .

In 2016, the song is repeated by Kelsea Ballerini and pianist prodigy Joey Alexander (13).
