The pirekua is a traditional Tarascan song today among the P’urhépecha of the state of Michoacán, Mexico 1 . It has been classified as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO on2 .

The Fokloristas had made it known in Latin America with “Rosa de Castilla” 3 . She was honored by Lila Downs (Tirineni Tsitsiki). The Internet has made it possible to broadcast this very current music, very present on youtube, in association with the recognition of the P’urhépecha ethnic group.
