Such a Shame is a song of the groupTalk Talk, written byMark Hollisand appearing on their album It’s My Life was released in1984. Initially released inpromo, the song Such a Shame was written by Mark Hollis and was largely inspired by the cult novel by American author Luke Rhinhart The Man-dice ( The Dice Man ), published in 1971.

His face B, Again, a Game … Again was composed by Mark Hollis and was recorded shortly after the departure of Simon Brenner , the arrival of Tim Friese-Greene keyboards but also as a new producer.

The single is also reissued in 1990 to promote the release of the Natural History compilation : The Very Best of Talk Talk .

It was taken by Nouvelle Vague on the album 3 and by An Pierlé on the album Strange Days 1 , 2 .

When she graduated as a single in France , she ranked 23 weeks in the Top 50 of January inincluding one in the 7 th Place 3 and has sold 418,000 copies 4

The title also served as a musical theme during a commercial for the Peugeot 205 in 1985.

The single was a huge success in continental Europe in 1984/1985, reaching the Top 10 (and sometimes the 1 st Place) in many countries 3 and the remaining piece commonly associated with the group; while in the United Kingdom , home of Talk Talk, it has only enjoyed a success of esteem (only ranked 49 th ), as well as the other singles and the album from which it came, It’s My Life .

The video of Such a Shame was directed by Tim Pope . We see the band playing the song in a dark room and close-ups of Mark Hollis singing the song, while laughing several times. A die often appears during the video at various times. We also see camera shots of Mark Hollis in London .
